A photographer can preserve a moment and a place by using a combination of artistic vision and technical tools. Each image has a special meaning for me. For each, I can recall the light, the changing weather, and the unique photographic aspects of the scene. I am fortunate both to live in Oregon and to have the ability to travel to photograph. Oregon and the west are magical places to capture the extraordinary beauty in simple natural things.
For many years, I used only black and white film and printed in the traditional darkroom. Recently, I have transitioned to digital imaging. I now use a high resolution digital camera, post process in Lightroom and Photoshop and print using an archival pigment printer.
No photograph is reality. Reality is not a two dimensional piece of paper; reality is not black and white; the colors in photographs are not real either. I have manipulated color in some images as I have manipulated tonal relationships in black and white, both traditionally and digitally to produce images that please me.
I hope you enjoy the photographs. Please feel free to send me an email with any comments or suggestions.
